This page explains what dimensions are standardized in Warhorse enviro art assets.
There are multiple reasons why we have to keep some dimensions standardized. Some of them are as follows:
- Animations are counting on some dimensions of things they are "interacting" with. (Ladders, chairs...)
- Character collisions are of static size and need to fit through certain assets. (Doors, rooms...)
- We are reusing pre-made assets of fixed sizes and we need to be sure they always fit where they are supposed to.
It is measured from the surface of one floor to the surface of a floor above it. It is important to keep these heights so that we are able to reuse pre-made stairs assets.
It is measured from one side of the wall to the other. It is important to keep these thicknesses so that we are able to reuse pre-made door and window frames.
25 cm - halftimbered and timbered walls (basically derived from the thickness of the wooden beam)
60 cm - typical stony city house walls
