Site Navigation links - "Random File" and "Random Image"

A while ago, while discussing with friends, I expressed the wish for the possibility of having "Random Images" section on the ImageShare, and was wondering why it is not a default site behavior.

Suddenly, it struck me, that I could very well write my own GreaseMonkey userscript for fetching Random Images from the Nexus site. But guess what? Someone already did almost exacty what I wanted, and I am really glad!

Without further ado, I want to share with you, a fabulous little script by Argomirr: Random file for Greasemonkey.

This is a Greasemonkey script that adds "Random File" and "Random Image" links to the Navigation Bar on all Nexus sites, including:

  • Dragon Age Nexus (dragonagenexus.com)
  • Elder Scrolls Nexus (tesnexus.com)
  • Fallout 3 Nexus (fallout3nexus.com)
  • Fallout 3 New Vegas Nexus (newvegasnexus.com)

Thanks to Argomirr for this nice Randomizer userscript. Hopefully, as it becomes more popular, the functionality will be added by the site admins as a default behavior of all the Nexus sites.

There are hundreds of wonderful files and images that go unnoticed and unrecognized, and all these authors deserve more appreciation for their selfless efforts.

Greasemonkey is an addon/plugin for Firefox (and few other browsers), and is a scripting system that allows custom userscripts to add new functionality to enhance the browsing experience.

GreaseMonkey for Firefox is recommended, though most userscripts will work with Opera, Google Chrome and IE, with perhaps some limitations. You can find lots of good scripts at userscripts.
